  •  MACAO, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Macao has recorded the fifth dengue fever case in 2007, according to a press release issued by the region's Health Bureau (HB) Thursday.

The patient, a 46-year-old female resident living in the city's Taipa Island, returned from a five-day trip to Vietnam and came down with a fever on Aug. 15, said the release.

It added that a string of tests confirmed the diagnosis following her admission into a local hospital.

The HB press release urged all residents to seek immediate medical treatment if symptoms of dengue fever are developed after returning from holidays abroad.

Macao was hit by its first major reported outbreak of dengue fever in 2001 when 1,418 were affected in the region with a population of 500,000.
