RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- During the Botafogo soccer team practice on Thursday, the team received some horrible news. The starting goalkeeper, Castillo, injured his right knee and left the field on crutches. This adds to a horrible week inside the Botafogo soccer club.
Earlier in the week, the administration and players on the team got into an argument with each other about the delay in paychecks. The news that the Uruguayan athlete may have torn a ligament has added to the tension. Should this be the case, the goalkeeper may need to undergo corrective surgery and consequently be out of the rest of this year's competition.
Botafogo is currently ranked in sixth place in the Brasileiro Championship. They have 46 points and still hope for the possibility of playing in next year's Libertadores Cup. The team needs to finish this year's tournament in the top four in order to secure their presence in the Cup. They will need to catch up to Sao Paulo, currently in fourth place, with 53 points.
